What is corn cheese balls ?
Corn cheese balls are like dumplings made by using corn , cheese and potato with some spices.
Crushed corns are mixed with grated potatoes and cheese. And then seasoned with some spices ie salt ,pepper and chill. Coated with bread crumbs and deep fried till crisp golden.
They are cheesy from inside and crisp from outside. You can take tomato ketchup as a dip sauce for corn cheese balls.
Tomato salsa is another good dip for corn cheese balls. Sour cream can also be served with it.

Steps to make the recipe
Preparation
Dough making for balls
Boil the corns and roughly chopped them using a knife. Grate the potatoes and cheese.
Take grated potatoes in a mixing bowl and add the roughly chopped corns, grated cheese, red chilli flakes, black pepper powder, oregano, chopped parsley and salt. Mix everything well.
Now add the half of the all purpose flour and mix well to make a smooth dough.
Divide the corn cheese dough into equal size small portion and roll between the palms to make round shaped balls.
Coating the balls
Mix the remaining all purpose flour with water to make a semi thick batter.
Repeat with the remaining corn cheese balls and coat with bread crumbs evenly from all sides.
Frying
Heat oil in a deep vessel pan or kadai medium heat flame. When the oil become hot lower the flame to low and add the balls carefully.
Fry them over medium heat flame till crisp golden.
Remove them in a absorbent paper to absorb any excess oil.
Serve them hot in a garnished plate with tomato sauce or salsa.
Corn cheese balls without potato
Potato can be replaced with paneer (cottage cheese) to make corn cheese balls. Potato act as a binding agent in the recipe. So when we replace it with paneer, we need to add little more amount of all purpose flour for binding.
Paneer can make a good and healthy corn cheese balls and it really taste good compare to potato. You can serve these type of corn cheese balls as Jain corn cheese balls.
How to make corn cheese balls without bread crumbs
Corn cheese balls can easily be made without bread crumbs. Bread crumbs make it crisp golden from outside.
You can replace bread crumbs with crushed corn flakes to coat them. They also make them crisp golden.
Even without any coating you can make corn cheese balls. For that you need to add more amount of all purpose flour and corn flour to mix with all ingredients to make the dough.
Otherwise you can even use pressed rice (poha) or rawa to coat the corn cheese balls. Crushed the poha using mixer and coat with the cheese balls.
Corn cheese ball frozen
These corn cheese balls can easily be freeze for up to 15 days .
After coating them with bread crumbs keep in fridge for 15 minutes to set. Then transfer them into a plastic bag and seal . keep this plastic bag in freezer to freeze.
When you want use them, remove from the freezer and keep at room temperature for 15 minutes. Then deep fry them in medium hot oil till crisp golden.

Ingredients
- 100 gm Corn kernel
- 2 medium size boiled potato
- 100 gm cheese (processed)
- 50 gm mozzarella cheese (optional)
- 1 teaspoon red chilli flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1/3 teaspoon herbs ( oregano)
- 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
- Salt as per taste
- 1 cup fine quality bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour (Maida)
- Oil for deep frying
How to make the recipe
- Boil the corn kernels and grate the potatoes and processed cheese nicely without any lumps.
- Drain and cool down the corn. Roughly chopped or crush them using a mixer.
- In a mixing bowl mix grated potato, cheese, corn, red chilli flakes, herbs, black pepper powder, parsley and salt.
- Add half of the all purpose flour and mix everything to make a smooth dough.
Making corn cheese balls
- Divide the dough into equal size pieces and roll them between the palms of hands to make round shaped balls.
- Mix the remaining all purpose flour with little water to make a semi thick batter.
- Now dip a ball into the batter and remove to coat with the bread crumbs from all sides evenly.
- Repeat with the remaining balls and coat with the bread crumbs.
- Heat oil in a kadai or deep vessel pan in medium flame.
- When hot enough, lower the flame and add the corn cheese balls one by one into the oil carefully.
- Fry them for 3 - 4 minutes or till crisp golden.
- Remove in a tissue paper to absorb any excess oil.
- Garnish and serve them hot.

Recipe notes
- Use corn by roughly chopped or crushed, whole corn often blast while deep frying. Which may damage corn cheese balls.
